The scope of this project initially started as a kitchen island, but resulted in 3 separate projects that made this new build a standout among the other models. White oak was the adjoining theme between all three pieces. The floating niche cabinets were hand-scribed into place after using the miter-fold construction on each shelf. The 2” thick white oak clad kitchen island has a floating style yet is still connected to the floor for protection against tipping. Last but not least, the custom milled white oak shiplap was installed on 2 adjoining walls to give the living room depth in what was otherwise a blank canvas.

Sneaker Lab originally came to us with a general layout and style they were looking for. It was our job to stay within those boundaries while keeping the integrity and strength of these open-faced cabinets. With over 300 feet of LED lighting, these cabinets had to have perfect joints, as every imperfection would be highly visible. This along with every other detail was managed by Burch & Co. The custom shoe cleaning chair, shoe drying cabinet and the LED equipped cash-wrap were designed and fabricated by us.

This cottage project was awarded to Burch & Co. with a light, California coastal style in mind. The kitchen and the rest of the house had not received an update since the 1970’s, so tearing this kitchen down to the studs was a necessity. We were able to set this kitchen apart by going with a gray/tan paint formula that keeps the room light while also bringing in warmth. Additionally, the shiplap clad walls coincided well with the shaker style cabinets and ultimately tied this cottage back to its long history in Laguna Beach.
